The Jamar Pinch Gauge measures isometric tip, key, and palmar pinch strength for patients in physical therapy settings. There are three gauge options with different target ranges: 0–30 pounds, 0–45 pounds, and 0–60 pounds. Selection depends on the user’s expected strength while avoiding exceeding the gauge range.
Jamar Gauges have a red pointer that retains the maximum effort of the pinch until reset. The gauge displays results in both pounds and kilograms. Standardized administration directly affects whether the results are useful.
