How to Use Hollister Restore Foam Dressing?
Preparation of wound area
- Assemble supplies and take to bedside.
- Identify and inform patient of procedure.
- Provide for privacy.
- Wash hands and apply gloves.
- Position patient so that the wound area is exposed.
- Thoroughly rinse or irrigate the wound area with Restore Wound Cleanser or normal saline, if appropriate. (If necessary, the wound should be debrided).
- Clean and dry the periwound skin.
- Measure the wound using the wound measuring guide.
Application of dressing
- Remove clear plastic tabs from the contact layer of the Restore Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing with Silver.
- Apply Restore Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing with Silver to cover the entire wound using aseptic technique. The dressing may overlap onto healthy skin.
- Cover with appropriate secondary dressing using aseptic technique (gauze, transparent film, etc).
- Secure secondary dressing with tape or other material.
- Remove gloves and wash hands after completing procedure.
Removal of dressing
- Wash hands and put on gloves.
- Remove secondary dressing.
- Remove Restore Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing with Silver.
- Irrigate wound base using Restore Wound Cleanser or normal saline, if appropriate.
- Reapply dressing if necessary.
- Remove gloves and wash hands after completing procedure.
