When to use Comfy Dorsal Hand Orthosis?
The Comfy Splint can be used by people with:
- Wrist Drop
- Ulnar Deviation
- Arthritic Changes
- Neuromuscular Impairment
- MP, PIP or DIP Flexion Pattern
ContraIndications of Comfy Dorsal Orthosis
- Patient has circulatory problems
- Pressure areas or skin irritations appear
- Patient has increased edema, redness or blisters
- Patient has persistent pain in the wrist, fingers and hand
How to wear Comfy Dorsal Splint?
Fitting Instructions
- The hand orthosis should be applied and fitted only by a trained professional
- Apply and shape the splint according to the patient’s requirements and exactly as indicated in the provided instruction manual
- After confirming proper placement, place two fingers under strap to ensure strap is not too tight
Wearing Tolerance
- Patient/Caregivers are advised to check the orthosis atleast every 2 hours until its removed, to see if there are any of the following problems:
- Skin abrasions
- Redness
- Blisters
- Increase in Edema (if splint is too tight)
- The above mentioned problems are to be checked more frequently in patients with sensory deficits
