How to use Silverlon Antimicrobial Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing?
- Before application, debride when necessary and irrigate the wound site in accordance with standard protocols.
- Remove the excess solution from the surrounding skin.
- Select a size of Silverlon Antimicrobial Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing that is slightly larger than the wound.
- Cut using clean scissors or fold the dressing to fit the wound, either side down.
- Loosely pack deep wounds, ensuring the dressing does not overlap the wound margins.
- For heavily exudating wounds, apply to the wound bed directly.
- For wounds with minimal exudate, apply to sterile water or saline-moistened wound bed.
How to remove Silverlon Dressing?
- To remove Silverlon Antimicrobial Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing, first gently remove the secondary dressing.
- If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile water or normal saline solution prior to removal.
- Gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard.
- Irrigate the wound site with a suitable wound cleanser before applying a new dressing.
When to change the Argentum Silverlon Dressing?
- Dressing change frequency depends on the patient’s condition and the level of exudate
- Initially, it may be required to change the Silver Calcium Alginate Wound Dressing every 24 hours
- It should be reapplied when the secondary dressing has reached its absorbent capacity or whenever good wound care practice dictates that the dressing should be changed
Contraindications:
- Avoid using on patients with known sensitivity to silver, nylon, or alginates
- Calcium Alginate Dressing With Silver is not intended for use on 3rd-degree burns
- Not intended for use to control heavy bleeding
- Do not moisten Silverlon Calcium Alginate Dressing with hydrogen peroxide or povidone-iodine
Warnings:
- Do not use past expiration dates on the product packaging.
- Do not use it if the pouch is damaged or open.
- Clinicians or healthcare professionals should be aware that there are very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver-containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates.
- Do not use petroleum-based ointments or creams under Silverlon Antimicrobial Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing.
- Silverlon CA dressing may adhere to tissue if used on lightly exudating wounds.
