When to Use Allevyn Adhesive Silver Dressing?
- Use in exuding partial and full thickness wounds including decubitus ulcers, diabetic ulcers, first and second-degree burns and donor sites
- Allevyn foam dressing is used over debrided and partial thickness wounds
- Suitable for use on fragile skin
- Foam dressing Allevyn is used in conjunction with a hydrogel dressing, such as INTRASITE Gel for necrotic or sloughy wounds

How to Use Allevyn Ag Gentle Border Silver Dressing?
- Where required, cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
- Select appropriate dressing size.
- Prepare the skin surrounding the wound by removing excess moisture. Any excess hair should be clipped to ensure close approximation to the wound.
- Start to remove the protector material from ALLEVYN Ag Gentle Border and anchor the dressing.
- Smooth the allevyn dressing over the wound, removing the remaining protector material and ensure that the dressing is adhered all around the wound.
- ALLEVYN Ag Gentle Border can be cut, especially to dress heels, elbows and other awkward areas. Always use aseptic technique when cutting the dressing.
Precautions while using Allevyn Foam Dressing
- For external use only
- Not compatible with oxidizing agents (e.g. EUSOL) or hydrogen peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing
- Not intended to provide treatment for infected wounds
- May not be compatible with topical antimicrobials
- If reddening or sensitization occurs discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional
- When allevyn adhesive foam dressing is used on a patient during MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) examination some warming may be experienced
- Allevyn Ag Gentle Border is not suitable for use alone on cavity wounds but may be used over cavity wounds as a secondary dressing
- Use caution in patients with significant hepatic or renal impairment
- Effects of systemically administered drugs may be altered
- This can especially apply to oral hypoglycaemic agents and to phenytoin
